Left us on Saturday, May 1, 2010

We were shocked and saddened at the great loss of Baroness Agnes Daunce on May 1, 2010. A week later, on Sunday afternoon, May 9, we and many of her friends and family gathered at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, 5040 Walney Road, Chantilly, VA, to spend time to mourn together and celebrate her life. Agnes' family was with us to meet the SCA family that meant so much to her. We collected donations that were sent to the American Cancer Society in memory of Agnes. Many eulogies of Agnes were offered, and music was sung to honor her, including the following filk:

I'm never late for dining in the feast hall
When dinner's called I hasten to my seat
I know with Agnes serving that the meal will be a treat
High table's setup perfectly for all I get to eat

The bowls and spoons are laid out on the table
With goblets, napkins, forks and knives set straight
A linen tablecloth - the perfect backdrop for my plate
The feast gear is all ready so believe me when I state

I'm sure the next remove is good, so try it
I'll ask for more and Agnes will provide it
She'll fill my water goblet with anything I please
Or bring me bread and butter, and cheese

There must have been a special on this linen
or why else would it decorate the hall?
The colors of her tabard match the banners on the wall
Agnes brought her stash again and shared it with us all!

I never knew that she could do that with a striped staff
To see big knights bow to Agnes is sublime
Her Excellency can be heard on the field at any time
The little lady with her great big smile - she charms them down the line

I'm sure the next remove is good, so try it
I'll ask for more and Agnes will provide it
She'll snatch up all my dishes, and clean them up with ease
Or bring me bread and butter, and cheese
